C5/C6 Spinal Cord Injury / Green Bay, Wisconsin

Tyler developed a passion for drumming at a young age. He signed up for percussions in the fourth grade and has been banging away ever since. At the age of 15 he got his first drum kit and became captain of the Green Bay West High drumline and a mentor towards a visually impaired student.

In addition to hunting, snowmobiling, riding ATVs and freestyle bikes, he also started his own band. In September 2014, Tyler and a bandmate were in an automobile accident in which Tyler was ejected through the front windshield. He was flown to St. Vincent Hospital in Green Bay.

Tyler suffered breaks in all cervical vertebrae, as well as a broken sternum and crushed lungs. As a result of his injuries, he was forced to endure more than two weeks on a heart and lung machine and spent next several months in the hospital.

Tyler is determined to get back up and drum again.

Getting Back Up is proud to support Tyler with an exercise-based therapy scholarship to Next Step Orlando.
