T12 Spinal Cord Injury / Greenwood Village, Colorado

An Indiana Native, Scott, started skiing out in Colorado at the age of three, long before he moved to Denver later in life. An avid competitor, he spent his winter breaks skiing in Colorado and his time at Purdue University as a member of the crew team.

While skiing at Arapahoe Basin in January 2015, he suffered a spinal cord injury when he caught an edge and was vaulted forward onto his head. He was knocked unconscious and awoke to the sound of a helicopter airlifting him to Craig Hospital in Denver. He had suffered a T12 injury and was diagnosed an Asia A.

He left the hospital in the spring of 2015 to finish school, unable to move anything below his waist. In January 2016, he returned to Craig Hospital to begin full time rehabilitation. Today, he is able to walk upright with the support of AFO braces and a manual walker. When Scott is not working on his rehab, he enjoys camping and fishing in the mountains, monoskiing in fresh powder, mountain biking, and rock climbing.

Getting Back Up is proud to support Scott with a scholarship to continue receiving the therapy he needs at Craig Hospital’s PEAK Center in Denver, Colorado.
