T12 Spinal Cord Injury / Citrus Heights, California

Amanda was an active individual, going to school, working out, holding down two different jobs, who was feeling good about life and was very happy. Everything changed for her in 2011 when she was hit by an unknown vehicle while walking a crosswalk. The impact completely severed her spinal cord and left her paralyzed below the waist.

Amanda was severely depressed, and gained some additional weight, which made it more difficult for her to transfer in and out of her wheelchair. She discovered SCI-FIT and begin working out with personal trainers. It didn’t take long for her to improve her quality of life. Unfortunately, insurance would not pay for her therapy and Amanda was left having to cover the cost on her own.

Getting Back Up is proud to support Amanda with a scholarship to continue receiving the therapy she needs at SCI-FIT in Sacramento, California.
